Insight

Honors Thesis - Speculative RPG Game Script

Insight is my undergraduate thesis for the University of Colorado - a speculative game script that earned me summa cum laude. It’s feature length, and includes sections for ambient dialogue and in-game items the player could pick up and inspect. Inspired by games such as Life is Strange and What Remains of Edith Finch, Insight follows the tale of a high school senior who finds herself imbued with the ability to read minds. Drama ensues!

UI strings are scattered throughout the script at appropriate intervals (i.e. completing a major objective, or being given a new quest).

Sections have also been included for ambient dialogue and in-game text for pickups. To highlight this, I’ve also provided a separate PDF with this information extracted.

Barks

Barks are an incredibly common narrative and gameplay mechanism, so it’s important to demonstrate that I can write these to spec. To that end, here’s a document I created where I wrote lines for two new characters in existing IP Mass Effect 2 and Overwatch. The barks are designed to slot perfectly into the framworks of both games.
